Panasonic unveils 'world lightest' full-HD AVCHD camcorders
The Panasonic HDC-SD10 and HDC-TM10 are as light as full-HD camcorders come
Welcome to the freak show! We’ve got bearded ladies, penguin children and now the world’s lightest full-HD AVCHD camcorders from Panasonic: the HDC-SD10 and HDC-TM10.
Measuring a lightweight 227g, the Panasonic HDC-SD10 and HDC-TM10 are aiming to prise the Flip Mino and Toshiba S10 out of your grasping claws. We’re happy to report though, that while they’re lightweight, they’re not light on features (see what we did there?).
Both the HDC-SD10 and HDC-TM10 are full-HD camcorders, and both have 16x optical zoom, touchscreen control, face detection and image stabilising. The only real difference between them that we can see is the Panasonic HDC-SD10 records solely to SD cards, while the Panasonic HDC-TM10 8GB of built-in storage, wwhich you’ll be paying £30 extra for the privilege of owning.
These lighter than light Panny camcorders will be hitting the stores from June with a not-so-lightweight starting price of £499.99.

Just bought one of these (SD10) got it at a good price from an on line seller that used to have a lot of high street stores that are now named after the nations favourite takeaway dishes! I've not yet used it but I have noted one thing about the supplied accessories that bothers me! Panasonic for some reason known only to them supply it with every possible cable you could need except for the HDMI one! How come? This is an HD camcorder so it stands to reason that most people buying it will do so for it's HD recording ability and presumably so they can then plug the camera straight into their HD telly with an HDMI cable to play back their HD footage. But no if you want that (OBVIOUS) method of hook up Panasonic are going to relieve you of another £25.00 from their online E-Shop for this piece of kit, it may be cheaper elsewhere. Moan over now about the camera. It's beautifully put together, the menu's are easy to follow and set up is a doddle, the built in Intelligent Auto mode makes capture of perfect images easy but there are manual setting for the more experienced/adventurous users. The LCD touch screen is easy to use, nice and bright and of course adjustable if required. The built in lens cover is a great idea, no need to worry about losing the cover anymore. The camera is light weight and easy to handle with all the buttons easily accessible whilst holding it. As I mentioned I haven't used mine yet so I may post again on the image quality but if it is anything near as good as it is meant to be I am sure I won't be disappointed at all. The build quality feels good despite the lightness of it and after owning and using a previous DV Panasonic camcorder with no issues at all (in fact I still have it and it still works fine) I am confident I have purchased a camera I can rely upon for years to come.
