Panasonic touts 3D video camera Panasonic adds another dimension to your home movies

We’ve been bombarded with a glut of new 3D products thanks to the January gadget-fest that is CES. And while TVs and Blu-ray players were in no short supply, Panasonic’s 3D camcorder offers something different.

It comes with twin lenses, giving it a slightly Wall.E-like profile from the front, and each of those lenses shoots in full HD, with the fancy footwork of creating the finished 3D image happening inside the lens.

Having two lenses on board means a certain bulkiness is inevitable, but Panasonic claims its 3D cam is significantly more compact than having two cameras fitted to a rig.

A concept product shown off at CES, Panasonic says its twin-lens 3D camcorder is likely to hit the shelves in the last quarter of this year, though it does say it’ll be taking pre-orders from April. Before you get too excited, though, we should mention that it’ll cost in the region of $21,000 (£12,800).
