Panasonic readying smartphone onslaught
The latest smartphone contender - Panasonic
Panasonic looks like being the latest electronics firm getting ready to dip a toe into mobile waters, if a new teaser landing page set up by the company is anything to go by.
The page, displaying tomorrow’s date – 5 October – simply states: “Lumix Phone – New information coming soon”. By soon, we presume Panasonic means tomorrow given the date reference.
What seems certain, however, is that the Lumix brand is about to be expanded, with Panasonic looking to follow fellow electronics all-rounders such as LG, Samsung and Sony into the mobile phone business.
Aside from the landing splash page in English, the only other details are in Japanese. However, it appears the handset will feature a 3.3in LCD and a formidable 13.2-megapixel resolution – no surprise given that it carries the Lumix name.
We’ll be keeping our ear to the ground on this one.
