Panasonic lens-swapping camcorder detailed
This clever cam lets you switch lenses
Panasonic has dropped a few more juicy details about its upcoming interchangeable-lens Micro Four Thirds camcorder.
The AG-AF100, first announced in April, is a pro-spec HD camcorder that uses the cut-size Micro Four Thirds image sensor seen in Panny’s digital SLRs. And like a digital SLR, this clever cam lets you switch lenses – a first for camcorders.
You won’t necessarily have to go out and buy lenses, either: the AG-AF100 will happily provide a home for any existing Micro Four Thirds lenses you might have, while other lenses can be fitted to thanks to a supplied adapter.
Recording options start with maximum-bit rate AVCHD in the top-quality professional PH mode, and work their way down throughout just about any format and quality level you can imagine. Twin SDXC card slots mean you can plug in as much as 128GB of removable storage to store all those top-quality clips.
The AG-AF100 is expected to debut around the end of the year. Panasonic is keeping the price to itself for now, but don’t expect it to be cheap.
