Panasonic launches 3D-capable Lumix GH2
Panasonic's latest G-Series offering, the Lumix GH2
It’s a busy time for camera makers, with the Photokina show in Cologne providing the perfect springboard for manufacturers to prime their product lines ahead of the big Christmas spending surge.
Panasonic is the latest to come to the party with the Lumix GH2, a Micro Four Thirds camera complete with touchscreen interface, full HD video recording and support for 3D interchangeable lens.
Replacing the existing GH1, the new model comes with a beefy 16-megapixel sensor – an increase of 4MP – and a significantly improved ISO range of ISO 160-12,800.
The 3in LCD around the back is able to swivel for added creative control, and is fully touch-enabled – you can even control the shutter release with a tap of your finger.
In terms of video, the GH2 now supports 1080/24p natively at 24Mbps, the highest bitrate in the AVCHD format, and a number of new movie mode presets help you quickly find the look and feel you want.
Alongside the GH2, Panasonic has also launched a new ultra-compact 3D lens, which features twin optical systems in the lens mount and according to Panasonic shoots 3D images at never-before-seen speeds.
The Lumix GH2 will land on UK shores in December, with the price yet to be confirmed.
