Optoma shows off 3D projector!
Optoma brings us one step closer to R2D2!
Optoma has just unveiled two new Hi-Def projectors at the CEDIA event in London – the HD20 and ThemeScene HD86 – but what’s really getting us excited is the prospect of a 3D projector from the image-throwing specialist.
First up, though, the two new projectors: the HD20 and ThemeScene HD86. The HD20 is aimed squarely at those who want an HD projector, but don’t feel like splurging the equivalent of a deposit for a flat on it. Optoma claims that the HD20 is the first HD DLP projector to break below the £900 mark. What you get for that is 500:1 ANSI contrast, 1700 ANSI lumens and two HDMI inputs. Not bad.
Want a bit more than that though? For £4,499 you’ll be able to get the ThemeScene HD86: a professionally tuned projector that sports image processing with Puremotion2, 700:1 ANSI contrast and three HDMI inputs. You even get a choice of optional lenses to suit your living room, consisting of short, standard and long throw. Nice.
But enough about those. You want to hear about the 3D projector. Optoma was showing off a prototype of the HD65 3D projector at CEDIA, running 3D technology. Before you say it, yes there’s a version on sale now, but that doesn’t have the 3D firmware. Optoma also said that 3D-ready versions of all its projectors may be coming in the near future. And just in case you were wondering, no, it wasn’t in the shape of R2D2.
