Opera Unite: reinventing file sharing Opera Unite: making streaming and sharing content easy

You’ve heard of Opera, the web browser, well allow us to introduce you to Opera Unite, a new service from the same guys behind the browser that turns your home computer into a web server and allows you to share files between PCs over the internet.

A new application built into the Opera web browser, Opera Unite makes your computer and its contents available remotely through a browser. Sounds unsafe? Well, it’s completely safe. And it’s got another benefit too – you can stream your music via Opera Unite complete with track jumping and playlists! That means you can access your own music from your work computer (assuming your bosses allow you to listen to music at work).

Sounds like a pretty cool solution then. But how does it work exactly? Well, if you want to share a particularly large image, it generates a URL of said file on your PC and all you have to do is send the link to whoever you want and they can start downloading before you’ve even finished uploading it. Who needs FTP?

The best bit though? Opera Unite is available now and absolutely free. Now that’s the sort of software we can really fall in love with.
