The Olympus Mju Tough-6010: a compact so tough it makes DSLRs weep

The Olympus Mju Tough-6010 is the latest snapper in the camera company’s ‘Tough’ range, and is as hard as Wolverine’s nails… and Wolverine’s nails are pretty hard!

So what are the Olympus Mju Tough-6010’s tough credentials? Well, Olympus claims the Tough 6010’s (the follow-up to the Mju Tough-6000) waterproof down to 3m, freeze-proof to -10 degrees centigrade, and drop-proof from a height of 1.5m. That’s all the proof we need!

So we know it’s tougher than Chick Norris’ karate trainer, but what about it’s ability as a camera. Well, Olympus has kitted the Mju Tough-6010 with a 12-megapixel sensor for taking snaps of tough celebrities such as Russell Crowe, a 3.6x optical zoom so you don’t have to get too close to said moody slebs, and dual image stabiliazation to keep your shots blur-free should they pick up and chuck you around!

Elsewhere, the Olympus Mju Tough-6010 sports a 2.7-inch LCD, has an ISO sensitivity up to 1,600, and storage handled by either an xd-Picture Card or MicroSD card.

So how much does an ultra-tough compact camera go for these days? Well, the Olympus Mju Tough-6010 will go on sale later this month for £299. That’s a tough price to be. Arf!
