Olympus OM-D Micro Four Thirds snapper sneaks out

Rumours of a new Micro Four Thirds snapper from Olympus have been doing the rounds for a good while now. However, images have been thin on the ground but we finally have a picture of what is said to be the Olympus OM-D: pretty much confirming said rumours.

It’s clearly the time of year when manufacturers best-kept secrets become unwrapped. The picture above is the first photo of the new camera set to join Olympus’ OM series. To discover more about the Olympus OM-D, read on.

Five affordable digital SLRs for the aspiring photographer

OK, so the photo above from 43 Rumours doesn’t reveal a great deal, but note the ‘OM’ and solid-looking build. That body is tipped to be a magnesium weather-sealed toughie. Of course that does not mean you can willingly drop it.

Features of the Olympus OM-D will include a 16-megapixel sensor, High Dynamic Range, 3D tracking and a five-axis image stabilizer within. ISO options ranging from 200 up to 25,600 will be bale to cope in a variety of lighting conditions. When taking photos it helps to have a good preview of them while snapping. A 3-inch 610,000 pixel OLED tilting screen delivers this.

The Olympus OM-D is expected to be unveiled by Olympus on 8th February. Should a release date and price be announced, we’ll be among the first ti let you know.
