An OLED screen in the middle of the steering wheel... why didn't we think of it before?
How about this for a crazy bit of tech: the OLED steering wheel developed by German research association, CARO.
What’s the point of sticking an OLED on a steering wheel you might ask. Well, allow us to answer. The centre of a car’s steering wheel has traditionally been the preserve of a car manufacturer’s logo. But why have a tacky plastic logo positioned there, when you could have an OLED screen that can not only flash up the logo, but also pops up traffic alerts.
The beauty of OLED tech is that it’s so thin and flexible you don’t have to worry about it taking up all your air bag’s space. This car’s as safe as houses. Well, as safe as more conventional cars, anyway.
