Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone prepped for CES 2012
The Nokia Lumia 900 is all set to light up Vegas. Nokia’s next big Windows Phone-powered smartphone could be revealed at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, which is set to kick off in Las Vegas later today.
You’ve probably seen or heard about the Nokia Lumia 800 – it’s the first smartphone from Nokia to run on Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS, and we think it’s great. Its 3.7-inch screen will be too small for some, though, which is where the Nokia Lumia 900 comes in.
We’ve heard enough rumours to suggest that the phone that will be similar to the Lumia 800 in most respects, but with a whopping 4.3-inch display. That’s the same size as a Samsung Galaxy S 2 – pretty darned big, in other words.

Now we’ve had a big hint that a Nokia Lumia 900 announcement is imminent. Over on the New York Times, they’re reporting that the large-screened Windows Phone will make an appearance at CES 2012 this week.
As we’ve mentioned, the Nokia Lumia 900 promises to be very similar to the Nokia Lumia 800 – even going so far as to copy its striking all-in-one polycarbonate shell and contoured screen. We’re also expecting it to run on the same 1.4GHz processor, and it should come with a similar (although possibly improved) 8-megapixel camera.
The arrival of the Lumia 900 should herald a new version of the Windows Phone operating system, code-named Tango. This won’t be a massive overhaul like the latest version, Mango, but it should feature some welcome fixes and tweaks.
While the Nokia Lumia 900’s appearance at CES will probably be focused on the handset’s US debut, we wouldn’t be surprised if it takes its European bow at the Mobile World Congress show in February. Stay tuned for more on that one.
