Nokia Lumia 601 budget Windows Phone surfaces
The long-awaited Nokia Lumia 800 finally went on sale last week, now attention is already being drawn to what could be the next Lumia phone. A new model supposedly called the Nokia Lumia 601 is now being rumoured, after making a mysterious appearance in a promo video.
The Nokia Lumia 601, as it is currently being called appeared in a recent promotional video for Nokia developers last week. Following the naming convention of Nokia smartphones, this new phone will be a more budget offering than the 800 of Nokia Lumia 701, announced at Nokia World last month.
In the video, showing off the features of Windows Phone for Nokia, the device was not named, however one website has gotten hold of some pictures of the phone. And according to a source, the new handset will be called the Nokia Lumia 601.
However there’s still some shred of doubt surrounding the latest pictures. And then there’s the suggestion that the phone in the video may have been a placeholder image. Nokia Lumia fans, note the similarity in designed with the Nokia Lumia 800.
If the device in the video, and the latest pictures really are a Nokia Lumia 601, it would be the first-look at Nokia’s entry-level Lumia handset range, with a more advanced camera than the upcoming Nokia Lumia 701.
Nokia Champagne to put Nokia back on the map
The Nokia Lumia 701 has a 5-megapixel camera. The photos of the Nokia Lumia 601 show what could be an 8-megapixel camera – so it could be that the as yet unannounced phone could be especially designed for those that love to take high-end looking photos at entry-level costs.
Thankfully, it won’t be long before we all get to find out. Nokia is set to announce its plans for the U.S at CES 2012 in January, so expect plenty of new announcements, including what may just be the Nokia Lumia 601.
