Nokia Asha 303 Series 40 handset has smartphones in its sights!

The Nokia Lumia 800 may have been the star of the show yesterday at Nokia World, but Windows Phone handsets weren’t the only phones on display. Nokia also showed off the new Asha range, with the Nokia Asha 303 looking like particularly good value for money.

Over the past few years, smartphones have been taking over in this country, with regular feature phones on the decline. Nokia hopes to change this with the introduction of the Nokia Asha 303 – a handset that blurs the line between feature phone and smartphone.

Look at the specs for the Nokia Asha 303, and you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s an entry-level Android rival. There’s a QWERTY keypad, a capacitive touchscreen, 1GHz processor, Wi-Fi, 3G – you can even play Angry Birds on it!

Despite this, the Nokia Asha 303 runs the Series 40 operating system, keeping costs down and promising to make a difference to those wanting more features in the developing world.

Along with a host of other Series 40 handsets (more on that later!), Nokia hopes the Asha 303 will reach out to the “next billion”.

Would you class the Nokia Asha 303 as a smartphone or feature phone? Leave a comment and let us know.
