Nokia 5800 Star Trek Edition beams up!

The Gadget Show  Wednesday 29 April 2009

Nokia 5800 Star Trek Edition beams up! It's the Nokia 5800 Jim, but not as we know it!

It was only a matter of time before everyone started jumping on the Star Trek band wagon given the new movie’s imminent release, and the first set to stun is the Nokia 5800 Star Trek Edition mobile phone.

So what makes the Nokia 5800 Star Trek Edition more trekkie than techie (see what we did there?)? Well, the XpressMusic touchscreen mobile from Nokia has undergone a futuristic re-imagining. And by that we don’t mean that it now has a built-in holodeck projector built-in or anything. Instead you get four animated screensavers, three wallpapers, eight ringtones and a “special Phazer application”.

Don’t get too excited about the Phazer application, though. You’re not going to be allowed to go round stunning all your mates. It’s more likely to be a setting that makes an hilarious phazer-like noise!

Available in blue, red and black/silver, the Nokia 5800 Star Trek Edition, apart from the aforementioned Trekkie bits, is pretty much the same as a standard Nokia 5800. That means touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera and A-GPS.

It’s exclusive to Phones4U, so if you fancy getting one of these special edition Nokia 5800s, beam yourself down to the mobile shop pronto. Or you could just walk there.
