Nokia 2710 Navigation ups the GPS ante
Nokia shows its GPS rivals the way
Nokia has announced the 2710 Navigation Edition – a handset with on-board GPS, a car cradle and built-in Nokia Maps that will cost under £100 when it goes on sale next year.
The phone itself is a classic candybar Nokia, and isn’t going to seriously trouble the latest smartphones with its list of features – especially its limited 2.2in screen and 2-megapixel on-board camera.
But given its Navigation Edition title, this phone is about one thing only – GPS, and here it makes a compelling argument. For a price expected to be no higher than €110, the 2710 will give you full on-board GPS with turn-by-turn navigation and full voice guidance. Nokia Maps will come pre-loaded, and you’ll also get local maps of your own region on a 2GB memory card.
The cherry on the top is the included car charger and cradle, along with a lifetime navigation licence. All for just €110? Sounds good to us, though it’ll only be available in the second quarter of next year.
