Nintendo Wii U to get own app store
The Nintendo Wii U will join Apple, Android and many more in embracing its very own app store says a new report. If true Nintendo could be going head-to-head not only with its console competitors, but mobile devices too.
The rumoured app store will, it is said, be capable of running apps directly on the Nintendo Wii U’s tablet style controller, giving the console controller the type of app functionality seen on Android and Apple tablets.
Nintendo Wii U to double up as an E-Reader
Nintendo 3DS owners in particular are already able to download titles and applications such as the Nintendo Letterbox that lets users send drawings to their 3DS friends, however a report from The Daily claims that a new Nintendo Wii U app store will deliver an even bigger variety of apps going “far beyond” what is currently offered.
One of the apps mentioned as a possibility is MLB.TV – an app that lets users watch live baseball games from a mobile device, or in this case, on the Wii U controller’s 6.2-inch screen.
Yesterday we told you how the Nintendo Wii U is also rumoured to be getting its own E-Reader service offering subscriptions to magazines and digital instruction booklets. And like with yesterday’s news, Nintendo has yet to confirm any of the above, so we wouldn’t get too excited just yet.
Nintendo first showed off the Wii U last June at E3 2011. The Wii U will be making another appearance at E3 2012, so watch this space for more as soon as Nintendo confirms it.

The Wii U is actually starting to look fairly promising. I'll admit, when they first showed it off I was kind of like "meh" but now there are more things being announced for it, the console's starting to look pretty good.
