Nintendo to release Walk With Me! Because it's good to walk!
Nintendo: fighting obesity through games. Its latest weapon? Walk With Me!
Following in the footsteps (see what we did there?) of ‘beneficial’ Nintendo games Brain Training and Wii Fit, is Walk With Me! Do You Know Your Walking Routine.
As the mouthful of a title suggests (why didn’t they just go with Leg Training?) Walk With Me! Will supposedly help you to, well, walk better. Out in February, it consists of two pedometer add-ons known as Activity Meters that you clip into your pocket or bag and leave there as you go walking. Your Nintendo DS then slurps up all the data from the pocket sensors and shows you in no uncertain terms what you’re doing wrong.
Sounds about as fun as, erm, walking? Well, it will come with motivational games to keep you moving, and the more you walk, the more games you’ll unlock. It’s an interesting concept, as it sounds like you won’t actually need your DS to ‘play’, only using it after you’ve been walking. At this rate Nintendo will have cured our nation’s obesity crisis no problem. If only they could invent Bank With Me! Do You Know Your Finances to sort out the economy…
