Nintendo 3DS in battery life shocker
The 3DS' gaming power does come at some cost
The Nintendo 3DS 3D-capable gaming handheld – due out in March next year at the earliest – is certainly lining up as one of 2011’s hottest new products.
With twin processors and bucketloads of memory and graphics power, it’s all set to leave the existing DS in the dust when it comes to performance. But now comes the downside: Nintendo has just announced that – entirely predictably – the 3DS won’t quite match the battery life of its predecessor.
Nintendo boss Saturo Iwata himself has commented that “it is inevitable that Nintendo 3DS will be a device which requires more frequent recharging than Nintendo DS”, though what is slightly concerning is that he doesn’t reveal just how much more frequently – figures that the company surely must have at this stage.
Either way, Nintendo plans to cover itself by selling the 3DS with a charging cradle as standard, and it’s safe to say it will be getting a fair bit of use too – if not because of the 3DS’ thirst for power then purely for the console’s unputdownable 3D gaming greatness.

Phew. Nintendo 3DS power requires more frequent recharging than Nintendo DS what a shame? How about sun power or body heat I hope they get it right? Which is what we what to play as long as theres power?
