Nintendo 3DS fans get ready for free games this Friday

Nintendo 3DS early adopters will this Friday be getting ten free Game Boy Advance games as part of Nintendo’s continuing efforts to thank the first people to purchase a Nintendo 3DS.

The free games are part of Nintendo’s Ambassador Program – an apology to early owners after Nintendo cut the price of the Nintendo 3DS soon after it was launched. The good news is the choice of free games is fantastic.

Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to download from ten free games from: F-Zero Maximum Velocity, Super Mario Advance 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Metroid Fusion, Wario Land 4 and WarioWare, inc.

Nintendo to offer free games for current 3DS owners

From this Friday each game will be added to early 3DS owners’ purchase history, assuming they have already signed up to the Ambassador Program.

As damning as the Nintendo 3DS price cut was, the offering above takes in some of the finest Game Boy Advance titles, with classics from The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong and Super Mario. The first batch of Nintendo’s Ambassador games were equally as wholesome, offering NES classics such as Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong and The Legend of Zelda.

The free game giveaway follows a troubled early start to life for the glasses-free handheld. Nintendo recently revealed that an accessory called the 3DS Circle Pad Pro will ship just so that Nintendo 3DS owners can play certain games the way they should be played by adding a second analogue stick. It has yet to get a UK release date, but will be arriving in the U.S in February.
