Nikon intros 3D-converting photo frame
Give your 2D snaps a 3D injection... three at a time
Nikon Japan has launched a 7.2in digital photo frame capable of transforming ordinary 2D photos into glorious screen-popping 3D.
The Nikon NF-300i’s LCD panel features lenticular lenses, which create the impression of 3D when images are viewed within a distance of about a metre.
While that is largely at odds with how most people use their digital photo frames, it certainly encourages you to come in for a closer look.
The frame is powered by the Android 2.1 mobile OS, and is capable of a mid-range 800×600 resolution for both 2D and 3D images.
Connectivity comes courtesy of USB and Ethernet connections, or if you prefer your gadgets chatting away cable-free, the NF-300i also supports Wi-Fi.
As usual, this 3D-toting photo frame won’t be making it out of Japan for some time, but don’t be too jealous: Japanese consumers are being asked to pay a monthly ¥1,995 (£15) to use the NF-300i, and that lets you convert just three 2D images to 3D per month.
