Nikon confirms S1100pj projector camera
Nikon Coolpix S1100pj – new projector cam
Nikon has confirmed the Coolpix S1100pj projector camera and the Coolpix S5100 compact camera after both cams being unwittingly outed in a German magazine.
As we reported yesterday, both new Coolpix additions were featured a little early, thanks to some over-zealous Teutonic editing, but today, Nikon has confirmed the successor to the last year’s wildly successful S1000pj projector cam will be hitting the shelves soon.
The Coolpix S1100pj takes the same principle as its predecessor – housing a pico projector to allow you to beam your videos and images straight to any wall immediately. At 14 lumen, the S1100pj is 40 per cent brighter, so you should be able to see your masterpieces in lighter rooms. There’s also a 14.1MP sensor, a 5x zoom lens and a new touchscreen screen.
The Coolpix S5100 was also announced today – a 12.2 megapixel compact snapper that comes with a suite of simple-to-use effects, including a neat new flash control. The S5100 will detect if you’re gripping your snapper, rather than using a tripod, and will automatically select the most appropriate flash settings to reduce image blur. There’s also VR (Vibration Reduction), enhanced Motion Detection, and video recording in 720p.
There’s still no official word on the D3100 14 megapixel SLR that was also leaked in Foto magazine, but we’re guessing that an official announcement won’t to too far away.
The Coolpix S1100pj will be available in green or black, and will be on sale 16 September for £349.99. There’s no word on on-sale date or pricing for the S5100 as yet.
