New WowWee robots roll out
Joebot and Roborover make their European bows; let the robot gags commence
If you enjoyed the robots that Jon was getting up close and personal with in the last episode of The Gadget Show then you’ll be intrigued by WowWee’s latest double act to hit the shops: the Joebot and Roborover.
Okay, we did see this pair way back in January at CES, but they’re finally getting launched in Europe and the US. So, why should you take note of these robo-dudes ahead of others? Well, for starters the WowWee Joebot is the first bot from WowWee that’s compatible with voice commands. Although we’re unsure if he’ll respond to “make me a pizza!”.
The Joebot is a traditional walking robot and he has a new “fast and fluid” motion. Although we suspect that actually means a faster and fluider motion to its predecessors. His other skills include dancing, beat boxing and telling jokes.
The WowWee Roborover, meanwhile, is a whole different robot. This bad boy bot has tracks where his feet should be, allowing him to roam around like a tank with a head. He can automatically detect obstacles with a little help from his lamp and avoid them on his own. Sounds like it won’t be long before the robots are taking over. And telling us a joke as they do it…
The Joebot and Roborover are going on sale in Europe for €99.99 and €79.99 respectively.
