New version of Palm webOS planned
Palm Pre - is a successor on its way?
The ace Palm Pre has never quite got off the ground here in Blighty. But that’s not stopping the mobile maker setting to work on a spanking new version of webOS, its mobile operating system.
Much-loved by Palm users and widely regarded as giving both iPhone and Android a real scare last year, webOS is set for an overhaul thanks to Palm’s takeover by technology big boy HP.
A Palm insider told a gathering of mobile aficionados that they would find the next year “very exciting” and that it was working on “new devices and a new OS.”
It’s unlikely that we’ll see anything new until well in 2011, although annual gadget hoedown CES, which takes place in Las Vegas in January, could see the Palm Pre’s successor rock up. The Pre itself stole the show their in 2009, so there’s every chance Palm will want to feel the love in the same way once again.
