New TV services heading to Xbox 360: Catch up on The Gadget Show from your console
Microsoft has announced that a number of TV channels and on-demand services are heading Xbox 360 consoles. Combined with the already announced Bing voice search functionality, the latest update will see the Xbox 360 move a step closer to transforming from console to entertainment hub. Read on to see which channels the UK will be getting, and what it all means for the console.
From November 15, the Xbox 360’s menu screens and interface will be given a new look to make it easier to find the things users want to. On top of that, Microsoft has revealed that a number of new on-demand channels are coming to the console.
As well as the current Sky Player, Xbox 360 owners can look forward to content from BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5. So that means you’ll be able to catch up on the very latest from The Gadget Show, straight from the console, joining existing TV services and film rental services such as LOVEFiLM and Blinkbox.
Excitingly the latest additions will go hand-in-hand with the voice-integrated Bing search function, unveiled in June at E3 2011. Console owners will be able to search games, films and programmes using voice commands. And with YouTube also penned for arrival, Microsoft hopes owners will be glued to their consoles for long yet.
