New Casio G-Shock watch comes with Bluetooth

The Gadget Show  Thursday 24 March 2011

New Casio G-Shock watch comes with Bluetooth Casio's new G-Shock is tough, and clever too

Casio’s G-Shock watches are already renowned for their tough-as-nails ruggedness, and now Casio has added some next-generation wireless smarts to an already attractive package.

The new Casio Bluetooth G-Shock watch features Bluetooth 4.0 capability, and so is compatible with the new Bluetooth 4.0-generation mobile phones that will soon be hitting the market.

That means your trusty G-Shock will be able to notify you of incoming calls, emails and text messages, while with the Finder function a single button press of your watch will start the vibration action on your phone – provided the two are within the 2-5m range offered by Bluetooth 4.0.

More traditional G-Shock features haven’t been forgotten either, and Casio’s latest is water-resistant to 20 Bar pressures and weighs in at just 65g. That Bluetooth capability isn’t much of a battery drain either, with the G-Shock’s battery still rated as good for two years before you’ll need to replace it.

There’s no word yet on pricing or availability, but given the G-Shock range’s popularity here in the UK we can’t imagine it’ll be too long before you’ll be able to get your hands on one.
