Netflix launches in UK and Ireland for just £5.99

Fancy streaming the latest movies and TV programmes to your Smart TV, console, Blu-ray player, laptop, or similarly mobile device? Well, Netflix has now officially launched here in the UK and you can nab an account for just £5.99 a month. Read on to find out more about Netflix in the UK and Ireland.

The arrival of Netflix in the UK and Ireland is expected to shake up the current landscape for in-demand TV and movies here in the UK. For just £5.99 a month (6.99 Euros in Ireland) you can now get access to a wide array of Hollywood, local and global TV programmes.

Netflix is claiming that is already has over 20 million members worldwide, in some 47 countries, and from today you’ll be able to get access to movies and TV programmes from All3Media, the BBC, CBS, Channel 4’s 4oD, Disney UK & Ireland, ITV, Lionsgate UK, MGM, Miramax, Momentum Pictures, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Viacom International Media Networks.

Available at launch on Netflix are recent big screen hits such as “The Expendables” and “Paul Blart: Mall Cop;” first-rate American programmes such as “Breaking Bad,” “24” and “90210;” previous full seasons of UK favourites including “The Only Way is Essex,” “Top Gear,” “The Inbetweeners” and “Torchwood”.

It’s not just mainstream stuff you’ll find on hand, as Netflix is also launching with a wide-range of documentaries, art house films and classics ranging from “The 39 Steps” and “The Aviator” to “Man on Wire,” “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” “The Princess Bride” and “Once.”

Not sure whether you’ll make the most of your subscription? Netflix is even offering a one-month free trial of the service, which sounds like a great idea to us, even if it means just keeping up with The Gadget Show!
