My Xbox Live app now available now on iPhone and iPad

To tie in nicely with the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update, Microsoft has released a ‘My Xbox Live app’ on Apple’s App Store, available to download to iPhone and iPad.

The app lets Xbox Live users peep their profile, send and read messages, and view theirs and their mates Xbox 360 Achievements.

To use the app you’ll first need to be signed up with an Xbox Live account. So if you’re an Xbox 360 console owner, you should already have one. To get started, simply download the free ‘My Xbox Live’ app and sign in using the same email address and password.

New Xbox 360 dashboard going live

It’s a beautiful-looking app that lets you manage your Xbox Live profile from an iPhone or iPad. A ‘home’ section displays trailers showcasing the latest available Xbox 360 content.

A ‘social’ section displays your avatar, and even lets you change its clothes and features. Swipe to the right and you can view your entire game library and any Achievements previously racked up. Hitting the ‘friends’ tab lets you view the profiles of previously added Xbox Live buddies and their achievements.

Microsoft Windows 8 public beta confirmed for February 2012

Touching an envelope icon below lets you send private messages to their profiles to access via the app or Xbox 360 console. Users can also view their friends recent games, and compare Achievements just as you would on console.

The My Xbox Live app for Apple devices stops short of letting you search for games on the Xbox Marketplace, but is still definitely worth checking out. My Xbox Live is available for free right now on the Apple App Store.

Already downloaded it? What do you think?
