Moto Milestone 2 now shipping in the UK
Motorola's follow-up Milestone 2
We may have had to wait for it, but the Motorola’s Android 2.2-boasting Milestone 2 has finally gone on sale in the UK.
First rumoured back in May, the Milestone 2 is no worse for the wait, however, offering a decent set of features to rival most mid- to high-end Android rivals.
The combination of 1GHz processor alongside the latest flavour of Android – 2.2 Froyo – is decent enough, but as users of the original Milestone will attest, Motorola’s MotoBlur interface that’s built on top adds plenty of appeal on its own.
And like the original, the 3.7in screen and full QWERTY keyboard is still present and correct, which again, given the first Milestone’s popularity, is no particularly bad thing.
Unfortunately, though, it looks like the Milestone 2 is likely to remain a fairly well kept secret. Like that other follow up to one of 2009’s unexpected successes, the Palm Pre 2, the UK’s mobile providers haven’t exactly jumped at the chance to promote Motorola’s latest smartphone gambit.
For now, you’re restricted to either paying £379 up front for the phone completely SIM-free, or searching around for a third-party contract deal at around £25 to £30 a month, as none of the networks have stepped up to offer the handset directly.
