More Microsoft Courier details leaked Microsoft Courier - more details leaked

More juicy details of Microsoft’s answer to the Apple iPad have appeared online, along with some tasty new images of the device. Gadget website Engadget has apparently been tipped off on some more details on the rumoured Microsoft Courier, including the fact that it will be known as a “digital journal” and will be a lot smaller and lighter than first anticipated – just a little over a pound in weight, and only a little bigger than a 5×7 photo when closed. It’ll also be under an inch thick.

In a series of new images, it looks as if the Courier will be touchscreen, but controlled by a stylus-type pen, allowing you to draw and write straight onto the screen. Engadget is also claiming that there might be a built-in camera, and it also looks as if the Courier will work as an eBook reader.

Inkeeping with the portability angle, the Courier looks as if it will be running “the same OS as the Zune HD, Pink, and Windows Mobile 7 Series”, which it’s assumed means Windows CE 6.

The launch date of the Microsoft Courier is tipped for the end of the year and there’s no word on pricing yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we do…
