Mobiado 105GMT Gold gets the Midus touch
Extravagant phone maker covers mobile in gold, like Shirley Eaton in Goldfinger
It seems that the only prerequisite for making luxury mobile phones is to have a silly name. First there was Vertu, and now Mobiado. The purveyor of hay clarse comms, Mobiado has been around for a while, but has decided that now is a good time to release one of the most extravagant handsets we’ve ever seen – the Mobiado 105GMT Gold!
Mobiado described this phone as “the expression of mechanical perfection, mastering of aesthetic details, and the integrity of consistent craftsmanship.” All you need to know is that it’s made from gold. It also has a machine-carved ebony and gold-plated chassis and sapphire crystal buttons. It doesn’t get more “look at me” than that.
If you’re about more than just the aesthetics, you’ll be interested to know that this phone has a pair of mechanical clocks mounted below the keypad – presumably so that you can set them to different time zones so you can tell what time your Swiss bank is open for business. It also features a SymbianSeries 40 OS, 1GB of storage and a two-megapixel camera.
Only 50 of these decadent phones have been made, so if you want one you need to be quick… and have more money than an F1 billionaire’s ex-wife.
