Microsoft Zune HD up for pre-order
Fancy a Zune? You can pre-order one in the States now, or head there next month for the release!
First the good news: the Zune HD, Microsoft’s HD-piping PMP, has gone up for pre-order today, with a projected release date of September 15!
Microsoft’s Tegra-toting media player has already gone up for pre-order in the US on various sites (Amazon, Walmart, Microsoft Store) and its sporting a $219.99 price tag for the 16GB version, or if you’re feeling flush $289.99 for the 32GB option.
So what do you get for your buck? Well, the Zune HD is 720p-outputting PMP (hence the HD in the name). It packs a Tegra chip so it should be super-fast and even has an HD radio-playing facility. Elsewhere it sports a 3.3-inch OLED screen, has multi-touch controls, Wi-Fi and web-browsing.
Now for the bad news: there’s still no word on a UK release. Come on Microsoft get your act together and let us Brits have a bit of the Zune HD action too!

I had the original Zune and kept up to date with the news (just to know when i could use the zune store). I remember an article (Sorry can not remember where but it seemed legit) that mentioned that the Zune function were you could let another Zune user borrow a track (by bluetooth transfer) and play it up to three times was the reason why this has struggled to get a UK release. From what I remember corporate music types were not keen on this and kicked up a bit of a stink.
