Microsoft unveils Bing search engine!
Bing - more than just Chandler's surname in Friends!
Google? Google schmoogle! Yahoo? Bahoo! Wolfram Alpha? Erm, okay we haven’t got a rhyme for that. Anyway, there’s a new search engine in town, fronted up by the big M itself: Microsoft, and it’s called Bing!
Being touted as the Google-killer, Bing is now in beta phase in the UK and will be rolled out worldwide by June 3. Replacing Microsoft Search, Bing will contain a number of innovative new features, including a new layout which includes highlights such as Best Match (a facility that identifies the best result for popular queries) and Instant Answer (which provides quick results in the body of the first search results page).
There are also planned developments to keep Bing moving in the future, with Web Groups and Quick Tabs (a contents table for categories of Search results) among other incoming features.
It looks like being a fresh-faced alternative to Google. Whether the name Bing will become part of our daily vocab as Google has done, remains to be seen. But we can’t wait to get Binging! If you want to find out more head to www.bing.com now.
