Microsoft planning two versions of next Xbox for 2013 launch?
Following on from recent reports that a new Xbox will be coming in 2012 is word that Microsoft is planning not one, but two versions of the next Xbox console.
The first version will be a basic entry-level cheaper version to be sold as cheaply as possible, and has been Likened to a set-top box acting as Microsoft Kinect portal.
The second will be more “fully-featured” and come with an optical drive, hard disk and backwards compatibility, says the latest report. So owners of the new console can breathe a sigh of relief that they will be able to play all their current Xbox 360 games on the new Xbox. Although backwards compatibility was always likely to be a must.
If true, this version of the console will be priced higher and sold to more hardcore gamers and fans of the existing Xbox 360. So that would be one Xbox for what many call “casual” gamers, and another for the “hardcore”.
So, when would a new Xbox be likely to appear? Recent reports have said 2012, and that developers such as Ubisoft and EA are already developing with new console hardware, but its now been suggested that a 2013 launch looks more likely.

An E3 2012 reveal before then has been rumoured. If true, June 2012 will be the first time the world gets to see the new Xbox.
But for now, new rumours are likely to slip out. So keep an eye out for the latest. If you have any predictions on Microsoft’s plans for the next Xbox, be sure to drop them in the comment box below.

The new xbox will have to have a drive (as opposed to being download games only) otherwise I will not be buying one.

Awesome news, also why does the title say it's due for 2013 and the text say it's due for 2012?

It will be good if the new xbox 360 allow you to store all your achievements on icloud, not just on a hard drive only. that way if your xbox is damage or stolen, all is not lost.

Since we do pay for our service a online gamesave backup function would be very nice, since loosing games saves can be very painfull =]

Why cant it contain a hard drive so you can download your games and play them from the Hard drive, without going near the disc. also blu ray and web browser as standard otherwise..whats the point

To Sean & Malcolm - the latest 360 software update (the one that changed the 360's dashboard to the Microsoft panel format ) did in fact introduce Cloud based saves. It's more noticeable on XBLA games which ask for a save destination on launch. Stop the sodding about Microsoft, we want the Matrix style jack point in the back of our heads.
