Metal Compass Xappr is gunning for your iPhone and Android phone

Shooting games on mobile phones never really quite manage to replicate that console feeling. Aiming down the crosshairs on a mobile phone just feels unnatural. Maybe if your iPhone or Android device looked like a gun, that would solve it, right?

Metal Compass believe so. The company has unveiled its Xappr gun attachment that you dock your phone onto for simulating that pew-pew-pew shooty action feeling.

The Metal Compass Xappr (you see what they did there?) lets players play a number of augmented reality, and shooting games for iOS and Android handsets in a rather unconventional way, by transforming your smartphone into a gun.

The illusion is one of actually firing at enemies in your surroundings in a way smartphones just cannot simulate without hacking a toy gun in an act of inevitably botched DIY. The Metal Compass Xappr will also be available in a Micro-Xappr variety, soon to be revealed and put on show at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, Germany between February 1st and February 6th.

Both Xappr guns will launch this Spring, and are available to pre-order right now from the Xappr website.
