Mac Mini gets an upgrade
New Mac Mini - affordable Apple?
Apple’s put its iPhone 4 plans aside today, unveiling a svelte new Mac Mini. The new small time Apple computer rocks an aluminium unibody frame, taking its cue from the top-end MacBook Pro, not to mention a host of internal bumps to convince PC lovers that it’s time to switch.
As well as slimming down a tad, the new Mac Mini features NVIDIA graphics, giving it twice the graphical grunt of its predecessor. You’ll also find a hefty 320GB hard drive under the hood, along with a plentiful 2GB of RAM.
Round the back there are four USB ports, with an SD Card slot, HDMI for hooking up to your HDTV and a Firewire port for importing all your home movies so you can edit them on iMovie.
The new Mac Mini is out now and costs £649. Not cheap, but the lowest price for any new Apple-backed computer you’re likely to find.

Dang, I want one now, but at that price, we'll have to wait to replace our ageing media Mac

Also, there is no external power brick - the transformer has been integrated (somehow) into the smaller case. It looks gorgeous, but what is up with the US to UK price conversion? $699 becomes £650. How????

@Stuart US taxes (vat) rate is much less than uk (us:5-7% uk:17.5%). also in the US sales taxes are added at the checkout and not the shelve price. Also transport and other costs will add to the price.
