Lomography 35mm cameras to offer support for Japan
It’s been a while since we’ve seen regular cameras which take photographs using film, but this trio from Lomography do, with the company also offering support for the Red Cross and areas of Japan affected by the recent earth quake and tsunami.
Lomography has spent the past few months working on three new 35mm and medium format cameras, in order to celebrate Golden Week in Japan. The recent crisis in Japan has changed things slightly – the cameras are still being launched, but Lomography is now dedicating 20,000 Euros to the Red Cross to support the reconstruction of affected areas in Japan.
The company claims that the three cameras – called Diana Mini JIYU (Freedom), Diana F+ KIRAMEKI (Sparkling) and Fisheye 2 SHIAWASE (Happiness) – were “designed for the most joyful time in Japan”. Following the crisis, it now hopes that the launch will help to bring hope to the stricken country.
As for the cameras themselves, they look wonderfully retro, and offer the character and quality often missed on digital cameras. The Diana Mini JIYU is a 35mm camera, as is the Fisheye 2 SHIAWASE, which also shoots at an unusual 170-degree radius. Rounding off the trio, the Diana F+ KIRAMEKI is a medium-format device.
Available now, prices range from £79 to £99.
