Logitech G27 turns PS3s into road warriors!

Fwd Tech  Monday 17 August 2009

Logitech G27 turns PS3s into road warriors! Fancy turning your PS3 or PC into a racing simulator? You, sir, need the Logitech G27 Racing Wheel

It’s not quite the same having a burst on Gran Turismo on your PS3/PC with a standard controller. Hook up the Logitech G27 Racing Wheel, however, and you get as close an experience to driving a Maserati as you’re likely to get without mugging a Russian billionaire.

The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel is actually the successor to the G25. Incorporating real metal and hand-stitched leather into the wheel and gear box, it also features a powerful dual-motor force feedback mechanism that delivers high-fidelity force effects. What that means is you’ll feel the bumps in the road, the traction loss and the weight shift. Just like you would in a real Fezza.

A six-speed gated shifter on the Logitech G27 Racing Wheel also allows you to choose exactly the right gear for the turn, and new RPM/shift indicator LEDs let you know when to change gear.

So how much to turn your PS3 or PC into an amazing driving simulator? Well, it’s got a US price of $299.99 (around £180) here from September. Racing gloves at the ready…

After owning a Logitech GT Force, then a G25, i decided to go for the G27, very impressed still 5 months later, smooth and quiet helical gearing, awesomely powerfull dual motors and the addition of extra switches on the wheel itself make a very welcome addition. Im a PC Racing Simulation fan and frequantly play Live For Speed, F1 2011, Race on 2007 (with all addon packs via steam), Dirt 3. Its a faultless peice of kit and stronger than midnight ruby, a must device for any serious racing game fan !
