LG supersizes 3D TV with massive LZ9700
It's big, very big
Last year’s CES in Las Vegas turned out to be a 3D love-in from all the big TV makers, and if you thought this year’s show would be any different, LG has just laid down a serious marker suggesting you’re very much mistaken.
The Korean electronics all-rounder has announced it will be using the CES show-floor next week to unveil the LZ9700 – or to make it easier, the world’s biggest LED 3D television yet seen, measuring a monstrous 72 inches across.
LG assures us that it’s not all about size either, with a massive 400Hz refresh rate (which will no doubt be 480Hz on European models) sure to deliver crisp and sharp pictures from both 2D and 3D sources. You also get Smart TV features and DLNA compatibility for accessing content online or around the home respectively.
Nothing yet on what the LZ9700 will cost, but if you set your dials to “not cheap” you’re unlikely to be disappointed. On the plus side, this 3D mammoth isn’t far from seeing the light of day: LG tells us it will be out in early 2011.
