LG readies its call to arms
What do you get if you cross a wristwatch with a mobile phone? LG’s new watch-cum-phone, of course
Ah, the mobile phone wristwatch. The staple spy gadget that’s been the desire of every boy since Dick Tracy used to make crank calls to Tess Truehart on his back in the 1940s. What? He didn’t? Well, we would have. Anyway, LG has just unveiled its GD910 phone-cum-watch, and it’s a real humdinger of a wrist-ringer.
First up, it sports a 1.4-inch touchscreen that can be used for pretty much anything you’d expect to find on your modern-day mobile handset – keypad, web pages, etc – and thanks to a built-in camera you can take snaps and even have video conversations. Just make sure to raise your wrist so the person on the other end of the line isn’t getting a prime view of your seven chins.
The 3G device also has Bluetooth, text-to-speech and MP3 playback. All in all it’s sounding like one snazzy bit of wrist action. The watch phone looks set for a European release later this year, but keep posted for more news at CES. This is The Gadget Show over and out. Ahem. Sorry about that, thought we were 12 again.
