LG announces “world’s slimmest” LED HDTV
The LG LH95 is so slim it has to throw down a coat when it walks over drains
While we’ve been piling on the pounds over Christmas, it appears our tellies are slimming down. LG has announced that it will be releasing the “world’s slimmest” LED HDTV – the LG LH95.
Okay, if we got a pound for every time we heard the tag “world’s slimmest” bandied around with new gadgets, we’d be fighting off money-grabbing WAGs left, right and centre. But this time it’s really impressive. You see the LG LH95 has a depth of just 24.8mm. That’s about as thin as two of your specialist DVD cases stacked on top of each other.
It’s svelte size doesn’t mean a lack in quality though. The contrast ratio is a staggering 2,000,000:1. What that means is blacks are blacker than the black winter mornings and whites are whiter than the snow-covered streets on the 55-inch screen.
The screen will support LG’s TrueMotion Drive technology, which quadruples the frame rate to smooth motion. It’s already got the 2009 CES Innovation Award in the Display category, so keep an eye out for this one…
On top of that, LG has also announced two further models – the LH5000, which has the company’s TruMotion tech, and the LF7700, which will be toting Freesat. Take that Panasonic!
