Leica launches gorgeous new M9-P rangefinder camera
Every time Leica reveals a new rangefinder camera, the styling tends to stay the same, and that’s definitely the case with the new Leica M9-P. This tiny device looks like something from a different era – albeit an amazingly cool gadget with staggeringly good build quality – yet the M9-P packs in the latest technology and an eye watering price tag.
Few camera companies can get away with charging the prices that Leica do, but then again not many of its rivals offer the same iconic style, amazing build quality or range of excellent lenses. Even then, at $8000 the new Leica M9-P is super expensive, but we still really, really want one!
There don’t appear to be a lot of changes over the current Leica M9, but there has been a very subtle change in style. The LCD display gets an anti-reflective sapphire crystal covering, to help prevent scuffs and scratches (although we’d be carrying ours round in cotton wool if we could afford one), and there’s a slight change to the leather finish.
As before, you’ll be able to fit a range of different Leica lenses, promising to provide unique image quality when allied to the 18-megapixel full-frame sensor.
For $8000 – or roughly £5000 – you’ll also get the choice of a black or silver body – we’ll take our Leica M9-P in black, please!
