Kodak PlayFull heads host of new arrivals
Some of Kodak's new faces
Kodak’s PlaySport waterproof pocket camcorder was one of last year’s most underrated new gadgets. But far from resting on its laurels, the photographic firm is pushing forward with a host of new releases fresh for the new year.
Starting with the PlaySport itself, it’s been given a once-over, with the main addition being a new Share button that allows quick and easy exporting of ready-made clips straight to YouTube.
Joining it on the video front is the all-new PlayFull, which also features 1080p video recording and the Share function, but in a form factor that’s smaller and lighter than ever – so much so it’ll slip into the pocket of a pair of skinny jeans, or so Kodak says.
There’s three new compact cameras too, starting with the Kodak Easyshare Touch, a 14-megapixel affair with 5x optical zoom, a dedicated video button for recording 720p HD videos and a high-res 3in display to watch it all back on.
The Easyshare Mini, meanwhile, drops the megapixel count to 10 and has just 3x optical zoom and a 2.5in screen, but as the name suggests it’s also considerably smaller too. Lastly, the Easyshare Sport brings the PlaySport treatment to the digital camera world – it’s waterproof to 10 feet, and is dirt, dust and sand-proof too, with a 12-megapixel sensor inside the weatherproof shell.
So far we only have US prices to go on, with the revamped PlaySport to cost $180, the PlayFull $150, while the EasyShare Touch is pegged at $150, the Mini at $100 and the Sport $80.
