Kindle for Android officially released
Kindle for Android – here at last!
Good news for Android fans fond of reading – the Amazon Kindle app for Android is finally here. It means that at last owners of Android devices can enjoy features that iPhone fans have been enjoying since December last year.
If you are the owner of a Kindle you can now sync it with your Android handset, and Amazon’s Whispersync technology means that you can read an eBook on your Kindle and then pick it up where you left off on your Android smartphone. If you don’t have a Kindle, of course, you can just read straight from your Android handset or, even better, on your Android-powered tablet.
You can also shop for over 600,000 eBook titles straight from your Android and get it delivered via WiFi, as well as sampling free excerpts before you shell out. You won’t, however, be able to take delivery of newspapers or magazine subscriptions as this service isn’t available yet for Kindle for Android.
The app is free and is available now for devices with Android 1.6 and above.
