Keep fit with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Active!
We’ve seen loads of touchscreen Android phones recently, but they seem to be getting bigger and bigger with each passing month. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Active is completely different, offering a compact 3-inch screen, dust proof and water resistant casing, and features including a 1GHz processor. If you’re the outdoorsy type, this could be the perfect phone for you.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Active eschews the current trend for bigger screens, fitting one of the smallest panels currently available on an Android phone. Sure, the Xperia Mini just about pips it in the compact stakes, with a tiny 2.5-inch screen, but the Active will be about as small as most people will want to go.
As the name suggests, the Xperia Active is designed for a life in the great outdoors, with an unusual asymmetric design that lets you clip a lanyard to it and attach it to your clothing.
The Active is water resistant and dust proof, so you’ll have no trouble when the weather turns, and it features integrated GPS, a barometer and a digital compass, offering an on-screen heart rate and pulse monitor to let you keep up to date on your fitness regime.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Active should also be more than capable when it comes to use as a phone, running the Gingerbread version of Android and featuring a 1GHz processor.
Launched alongside another compact smartphone – the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, a 3.3-inch Android handset – the Sony Ericsson Xperia Active will be available in the third quarter of the year.
