Is the iRiver P7 the PMP daddy?

The Gadget Show  Friday 09 January 2009

Is the iRiver P7 the PMP daddy? What would you play on the P7? Justin Timberlake’s Cry Me an iRiver, maybe?

With the announcement of Samsung and Sony’s new music players it would have been easy to miss iRiver’s PMP offering at CES – the P7. You can almost imagine the Archos 5 trembling in its boots.

Storming Vegas with its 4.3-inch, 480×272 touchscreen, the P7 doesn’t look as flashy as say an iPod Touch or Archos 5 at first glance, but it comes with a belly bursting with tech. Firstly, it’ll be available in 4GB, 8GB or 16GB Flash flavours with a microSD card slot, for all your media file needs.

It’s also boasting a SRS WOW HD audio enhancement (whatever that is), a battery good that’s good for around 50 hours of audio playback (that’s roughly ten marathons’ worth), an FM radio, voice recorder, seven equalizer presets and a “full movie codec support.”

There’s no word on price yet, or when it’ll be release, but we’re looking forward to seeing what this bad boy can do in our hands.
