Is Google getting ready to take on the iPad?
Is Google targetting the Apple iPad?
It looks like the touchscreen tablet market could be the arena for the next round of the increasingly hard-fought battle between tech giants Google and Apple.
With the iPad barely a week in official existence, rumours that Google could have a tablet of its own in the offing are growing.
Unsurprisingly dubbed the “gPad”, the touchscreen device is shown in a concept video apparently posted by a Google Chrome OS designer.
The video shows the device running the Google’s forthcoming Chrome operating system, though the hardware itself is clearly just a prototype for the OS.
Whether it runs Android or Chrome, Google clearly has the tools at its disposal to take the iPad on, especially if it gets hardware partner HTC involved.
We’ll bring you more news on the gPad as it happens – so stay tuned.

As a Nexus One owner, i really hope they [Google and HTC] produce some magic. The Nexus One + Android is a winning combination, scale this up onto larger screen, tablet form would be the biz!
