The iRiver P35: look and touch

iRiver has pulled out all the stops with its latest touch sensitive slab of PMP goodness. In addition to the usual multimedia playback chores, its widgetised interface lets it turn its hand to other tasks as well.

Up front there’s a finger friendly 4.3-inch display that stretches to a decent pixel count of 480×272 dots. Solid state storage is packed inside, so it can take the odd bump or bash here and there without skipping. Capacity starts at a reasonable 8GB with 16GB available for those that want more.

Wi-Fi is an option so you can fire up the web browser and surf away while you’re chilling out listening to tunes. For the super techies out there, it even features an FTP server, for the ultimate in web geekery. A TV add-on, with bundled remote, is also an option if you want to expand your entertainment options yet further, not forgetting it supports Xvid, MP4 and WMV video.

If that’s not enough for you, then its ever-expandable widget interface should keep you satisfied. Third party programmers will be able to create their own add-ons, so any missing features can be easily plugged with new widgets.

The P35 is available now in Korea, so hopefully a worldwide launch can’t be too far behind.
