iPad tops US kids' Xmas wish list

A favourite with kids of all ages

We all know the iPad is one of the most desirable pieces of tech kit around, but its appeal isn’t restricted to well-heeled sophisticates and gadget fans alone – even children can’t resist the Apple tablet’s call.

A recent Nielsen poll asked US kids between the ages of six and 12 what they’d be most interested in receiving in the next six months, and Apple’s wonder-tablet came top of the list, with nearly one in three putting it firmly on their most wanted list.

Tying for second place was a computer or an iPod touch – another win for Apple, then – before the more Nintendo DS family and Sony’s PS3.

Interestingly, more typical recent favourites such as a TV or mobile phone only featured midway down the list – showing either that tastes have changed or most children that age already have their own telly and blower.

Sadly, the likes of bicycles and train sets didn’t feature at all on the list, with electronics clearly the biggest draw for children of all ages these days.
