Ion Twin Video: Twice as nice
Ion has announced a quirky new pocket camcorder with forward and backward-facing lenses, letting you capture both your subject and yourself in the same clip.
The Ion Twin Video may have double the lenses of its rivals, and twin microphones too, but you wouldn’t think so just by looking at it – this is one that definitely falls into the “pocketable” category.
It’s unquestionably gimmicky too, Ion is keen to point out there’s plenty of practical value beyond that, from recording interviews two-way interviews to capturing your reaction to the latest YouTube-bound comic japes. Twin microphones point in opposite directions ensuring footage from the rear-facing lens comes with decent audio too.
You can choose to place either image picture-in-picture, or simply have them side by side split down the middle of the screen.
Recordings are stored on SD or SDHC card, and make their journey to the nearest PC via a USB connection.
The Ion Twin Video isn’t out yet, and the rest of the spec isn’t clear, but more will no doubt become clear ahead of its mid-year launch.
