HTC prices up the HD2!
The HTC HD2 has been slapped with a price and release date...
Remember the HTC HD2? That awesome HTC Windows Mobile 6.5 device that sports HTC’s Sense skin? Well, it’s just been given a price and a launch date, and it’s less than a month away.
Scheduled for a November 20 launch the HTC HD2 has been slapped with a fairly hefty £550 price tag. Naturally that’s SIM-free so you can expect plenty of deals from the networks when they offer it on contract.
So why are we so excited by the HTC HD2? Apart from the fact it sports HTC Sense to make Windows Mobile 6.5 a more pleasant experience, it’s an all-round nifty phone. It sports a five-megapixel camera with dual LEC flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G and a standard headphone jack. And that’s not even mentioning the sizeable 4.3-inch touchscreen.

You got a couple of bits wrong. Play.com have the phone on SIM free for £499.99, shipping on the 11th November. Also T-Mobile will have the phone on the 6th November available for upgrade and new customers.

4.3" screen - surely phone will be too big to be pocketable? Also, Sense UI is only skin deep - you then get unpleasant switch to Windows mobile at certain points. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Surely the iPhone OS and also possibly Android are the way forward. I predict Windows Mobile's already small Smartphone marketshare to be almost nothing within two years. Apple iPhone, Android and Blackberry to continue to own smarrtphones.

What is it with htc? I still don't get it? Barely any advertising, selling up to phone networks, so relinquishing hard earned brand image...something is up someone's sleave I reckon..but could it be too little too late?!?!! Nice device apparantly, not had too many mate demos, 2 so far!! Iphone & Bberry 25+ hmm

I have this phone, its absolutely brilliant. I've steered clear of iPhone primarily because of its ridiculous pricing and I like to tinker/customise which rules the iPhone out (unless you go down the jailbreak path). I've gone from HD > HD2. The HD2 has a glass screen and feels like its forged out of one piece of solid material. You can stay in the HTC sense for the mostpart but the very very seldom times you see 'old Windows' its forgivable with greater finger friendly support. Highly recommend this! I hope the Gadget Show don't go biased with the 3GS over this again (as with the HD) the HD2 has an Apple iPad speed processor after all!
